Residential buildings are a critical component of any city, providing space for citizens to move into your city and make a home for themselves. Citizens as a household can move into a variety of residential buildings including residential & mixed use zoned buildings and residential & mixed residential signature buildings.

Households

Households are made up of citizens that share a home. These can be couples, entire families or just a single person. Household wealth is made up of combining each member's income and the household's net worth.

Some residential buildings, both zoned and signature, will contain both households and commercial space for a company to move in and hire employees. As a result of the commercial activity in these buildings, the noise pollution generated can have a negative impact on citizen's happiness in the building & surrounding area. Additionally, the commercial business pays a portion of the rent making the residential rent more affordable[1].

Zoned Buildings

参见:Zoning

Residential buildings predominantly are made up of zoned buildings located along roads throughout your city. While low density residential buildings only hold 1 household regardless of their size, all other zoned residential buildings have space for multiple households dependent on three factors: Zone type, building size, and building level. Zone type provides the baseline capacity for each building, with mixed use and high density buildings having more households per tile than medium density buildings. These denser buildings can have a negative effect on a citizen's happiness, with all citizens desiring spacious homes. The baseline capacity from the zone type is multiplied by the number of zoning tiles utilized by the building, in other words the zone tile area. Finally, the building level has a bonus effect of 25% per level after level 1 on a building's household capacity, resulting in, as an example, level 5 buildings having double the capacity of level 1 buildings of the same zone type & size.

  • Houshold Capacity = ( Household Density, per Zone Type; 1-6 ) x ( Zoned tiles; 2-36 ) x ( Building Level Bonus; 0-100% )
